Are the troubles ending?
Crytek, founded in Germany by 3 brothers, is sure going through some hard times. In the past few months, they have shut down 5 of their studios as part of the company’s effort to “refocus on its core strengths” ¹ ² Suffered a humiliating closure and was kicked out of its offices by the building’s owner and paid some employees late month after month.
So yes. Crytek Shanghai did remain open. Employees there worked for no pay since Sep 2016. Now its closed because they couldn’t pay rent https://t.co/HpLT0QqcsD — Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) April 17, 2017
However, it seems like things are actually starting to get better after directing their attention and focus on the IPs they have and the CryEngine technology, which many other game studios, licensors and developers rely on.
The job offer posted on the studio’s official website shows that they are in need of a graphics designer whose job will be to make creative promotional designs for a game community to Crytek Istanbul family.
According to statement made by the company, new employee needs to be creatively minded and driven and possess a strong knowledge for Abode Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. Visualizing and understanding social media is also a plus.
Crytek held offices in Budapest, Hungary; Sofia, Bulgaria; Seoul, Korea; Shanghai, China; Istanbul, Turkey; Frankfurt, Germany; and Kiev, Ukraine.
On 20 December 2016 they announced that their studios in Hungary, Bulgaria, South Korea, China, and Turkey would be shut down. But this job offer for the Istanbul studio makes us wonder if there is a truth to that $500M investment in Turkey rumors.
