On the eve of 2017, Amazon just announced the Echo Dot as the best seller product across all categories. With millions of sales worldwide, Echo Dot becomes the most gifted and purchased smart home control device by selling 9X more compared to the last year’s Christmas holiday season.

“Echo and Echo Dot were the best-selling products across Amazon this year, and we’re thrilled that millions of new customers will be introduced to Alexa as a result. Despite our best efforts and ramped-up production, we still had trouble keeping them in stock. From turning on Christmas lights and playing holiday music to shopping for gifts and asking for help with cookie recipes, Alexa continues to get smarter every day,” said Jeff Wilke, CEO Worldwide Consumer, Amazon.

On Dec 20, Amazon made a poor judgment on Echo Dot sales and the gadget went out of stock once everyone started to decide on Echo Dot as a Christmas gift. Fortunately, as of now, it’s back on sale again and you can get it by 29 if you place your order now.

1 Billion Sales!

The Seattle-based retail company of the United States increased its product sales worldwide over 1 billion during Christmas break. During the holiday season between 1 November and 19 December, the company reached sales five times higher than last year.

Echo, which is Amazon’s voice command and bluetooth-enabled ‘smart speaker’ is said to have a significant share in sales. Amazon CEO Jeff Wilke said that Echo Dot is the most ordered gift from Amazon, and that last year he had difficulty growing stocks of products selling nine times more than the holiday season. Apart from Echo, the hot drink maker Keurig K-Cup, the artistic reality device Samsung Gear VR, and Nintendo’s Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon video games were among the top-selling products.

According to the same report released by Amazon Newsroom, 72 percent of the purchases completed via smartphones.
