The future of technology will be unveiled by Samsung at CES 2017. The Samsung Electronics just announced its new model robot vacuum cleaner POWERbot VR7000 which can be integrated with Amazon’s Echo Dot, so consumers can control it using voice commands[2].

The new robot vacuum cleaner comes with an Android and IOS application to allow Alexa integration. Even though, there are other robot cleaners that support Alexa and voice control such as, Neato’s Botvac Connected, the POWERbot VR7000 Samsung’s very first vacuum cleaner that allows voice control, so it’s a big step forward for both Samsung and POWERbot VR7000 future users.

So, how can a robot vacuum cleaner and a voice control device look like together?

Well, there are hundreds of scenarios that you wish your robot cleaner integrates with Echo Dot too! For example, let’s imagine the phone suddenly rings while your POWERbot VR7000 is working, instead of chasing the robot around, you can just call the Alexa and turn the device off until you no longer need silence.

Or, in another scenario, your dog or 3-yo children breaks a glass of water, in order to avoid any cut and injury, Amazon’s Echo Dot can immediately redirect your robot to the accident scene.

The last example I can think of is, I’m a cleaning addict and can’t stand to see dirt and dust around. So, instead of going back home from a tiring work day and waiting for the robot to clean the house, I can just create schedules with Echo Dot and let the robot clean the rooms while I’m away.

We should also mention that the POWERbot VR7000 will be announced at Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in Las Vegas and we still don’t know many details about the device including price, some technical details, dimensions, abilities, and limits. So, it might be better to keep our voice control expectations low at the moment.
