Who should buy the Swift 7?
You must seriously consider getting a Swift 7 if you prefer getting a particularly lightweight and compact notebook which also meets your price and performance expectations.
Swift 7, which Acer recently introduced to the market and attracted attention with its elegant design, finally has taken its place on our review table. The Swift 7, looks really stylish, but there is one more important feature than its design: Acer has made the world’s thinnest laptop computer with Swift 7. It has the title of the “first notebook that is thinner than 1cm thick”.
Thinnest notebook of the world
Acer Swift is a very impressive laptop computer with its design. The Swift 7 is the thinnest notebook computer currently available with a thickness of 9.98 mm. As you might already know, HP’s Specter 13 was another slim model with a thickness of 10.4 mm, but
The Specter 13 is a model that pushes the boundaries with a thickness of 10.4 mm, but it has beaten by the new Swift 7
This kind of slim and light notebook computers provide a lot of conveniences. For example, Sony VAIO 11, which we have already reviewed, was one of them. With its compact design and long battery life, the VAIO 11 also attracted a lot of users with its touchscreen. But unfortunately, Swift 7 doesn’t have a touchscreen unlike the VAIO 11
The screen size of the Swift 7 is 13.3 inches. It is made up of IPS panels and offers Full HD resolution. The screen brightness is very good. Let’s also say that it covers 97 percent of the sRGB color gamut.
The Swift 7 has a black inner frame around the screen, gives us a golden background on the keyboard surface. And the material used here is also so beautiful and elegant. The sturdy metallic surface of the Swift 7, which is nice to the eye, weighs 1 kilogram. So you can easily forget it when you throw it in your bag.
When we look at the connection ports of the Swift 7, we see that there are only two USB 3.1 ports and one headphone jack connection. Yes, you’ve read it right, there is no other physical connection on the device, unfortunately. If you want to get a high performing and 9.98 mm thick laptop so badly, this is the price you have to pay.
Swift 7 has a very large touchpad area. This allows both the appearance of the laptop to look good and adds significant value in terms of functionality. The keyboard also feels great and highly comfortable to use. An important shortcoming on the keyboard is that the keypad does not have backlighting feature.
Good performance for everyday use
Let’s take a look at the technical side of the Swift 7. The device, which comes with the Intel Core i7, is on Intel Kaby Lake, the processor of this year. In the third quarter of 2016, the Swift 7, which has the i7-7Y75 processor becomes an important performance model available on the market.
Swift 7 has 8 GB of DDR3 memory. The laptop also has a 256 GB SSD on the computer and it operates at 1.30 GHz base and 3.60 GHz ceiling frequency range with its processor and owns Intel HD Graphics 615 graphics unit.
To mention the values we measured during the SSD test, we analyzed that Swift 7 can write 450 MB data at the sequential reading point, and 350 MB at the writing section. Meanwhile, in the game performance section, we can say that Swift 7 can allow you to play many games in the mid graphics settings.
Obviously one of the key features of the Swift 7, of course, is battery life. For the records, this is not a gaming PC, it is a laptop that offers a long-lasting performance for mobile use and a compact design. Swift 7, which can deliver up to 9 hours of battery life according to Acer’s values, has reached 9 hours during our tests.
But of course, we have tested it on different scenarios. We were able to reach 8 hours and 52 minutes watching a Full HD video at a screen brightness of 30 percent.
